VENT’ANNI
An experimental documentary that investigates the link between memory and climate change through the transformation of the Bedea-Novaggio ski slope in Switzerland. Using archival news footage and other sources, the film contrasts the snowy landscape of 20 years ago with the current reality of a barren meadow and a motionless cable car. In the center, a young man in his 20s holds a mirror, a symbol of reflection on the past and the present. Eventually, the mirror shatters, leaving a fragment of his reflection as an echo of a now-lost memory.
Statement
This film is a social impact project because it reflects on the visible consequences of climate change through the loss of a place once deeply connected to collective memory and identity. By confronting archival images of snow-covered landscapes with the present emptiness of the abandoned ski slope, the film invites viewers to question what disappears when nature changes irreversibly. The shattered mirror symbolizes the fragility of memory and our broken relationship with the environment. The project aims to create emotional awareness, especially among younger generations, encouraging reflection on climate responsibility and the urgency of preserving both ecosystems and cultural memory.
