Since 2018, Duemila30 is an international festival dedicated to young creatives and focused on sustainable development and social inclusion. Conceived as a platform for the advancement of social impact storytelling, Duemila30 is permeated by a unique atmosphere, made of young filmmakers from all over the world, international movie industry professionals, social and environmental activists and the young and passionate staff, which, altogether, allow for the creation of a fertile and inclusive environment where ideas thrive and knowledge is effectively created and exchanged.

What will happen*

*Participation is entirely free for everyone, and accommodation is offered by us for a limited number of participants.

You will live an extremely intense three days surrounded by young filmmakers from all over the world (50 different countries attended last year).

You will have the chance to personally interact and work with international professionals and experts of the movie industry.

All participants’ short films will be screened in dedicated feedback sessions and you’ll exchange ideas with activists and learn from their experience how to better tell social impact stories.

You’ll work in groups on an original new short and have the chance to win a production budget for it.

 FAQs

  • Joining is very simple whether you have a short film to submit or not. Check the Join page of our website for all the information.

  • No, you can join regardless of the submission of a short film. You just need to be a student (see FAQs further on) and interested in social impact storytelling.

  • The only requirement is to be enrolled in an education institution (High School, University, Academy, etc.). Proof of enrollment will be required during the registration process. If you are submitting a short film you will be allowed to join even if you are not enrolled in any educational institution anymore, as long as you were a student at the time of the shooting.

  • No, the whole programme is entirely free.

  • Duemila30 Festival will be held in Milan from the 27th to the 30th (included) of June 2024. The programme will start on the 27th at 16.00 and end on the 30th at 23.00. We suggest you arrive in Milan early in the morning of the 27th and leave on the 1st of July.

  • It will take place in several locations around the city of Milan (Italy), allowing you to discover different neighbourhoods during the four days. All locations will be easily reachable by public transports. More info coming soon.

  • No. Unfortunately Duemila30 allows only physical participation.

  • All short listed filmmakers are personally invited (together with their cast and crew) to join the programme in Milan. Only the short films of the attending filmmakers will be screened and will run for the competition. Duemila30 is an immersive experience, specifically designed to provide emerging international talents with an opportunity for professional and personal growth. All short films will be screened in movie theaters and will benefit from dedicated feedback sessions with the festival’s guests.

  • The festival’s organisation covers the accommodation expenses (for the nights of June 27, 28, 29 and 30) for a limited number of participants. Travel costs to reach Milan are not covered by the organisation, but we can provide our support in looking for external funding (e.g. reference letter). Some of the meals will be provided during the festival’s programme.

  • Places are limited and are assigned in a first-come first-served basis. We will require proof of your travel tickets to Milan before assigning you a place in our partner accommodation facility. Please contact us before booking your travel, to ensure we still have places left.

    The accommodation is provided with a partner facility exclusively for the nights of the festival (in 27th of June - out 1st of July). Extra nights will not be covered by the scholarship. Participants will be hosted in a Hostel, in shared dorms with shared bathrooms. For any specific requirements please contact us.

    The accommodation is provided exclusively for one person per selected short-film, extra people are welcomed but won’t be covered by the organisation.

  • Visa application will be managed by you. Contact us as soon as you can and we will provide an official invitation letter to facilitate the process. Take into account enough time to allow embassies and consulates to process the application (it might take a while), unfortunatelly we can’t do anythong to speed up the process.

  • Milan has three main airports: Milano Linate (LIN), Milano Malpensa (MXP), Milano Bergamo (BGY). All airports have connections with the city center by train or bus.

  • As of 1 June 2022, Covid-19 vaccine certicficates are no longer required to enter Italy from EU and non-EU countries. Check official sources for any significant updates on this matter.
