Under the Table
Jules, a rebellious student on the verge of failing, is given one last chance to graduate, produce a documentary about government transparency. He is paired with Aedan, a tech-savvy honor student, and their partnership starts off rocky. While researching, they uncover corruption behind unfinished government infrastructure projects linked to Jules’s father’s company. As the investigation deepens, the two grow closer and learn more about each other’s struggles. Faced with danger, family pressure, and difficult choices, Jules must decide where his loyalty lies. In the end, he chooses the truth, helping expose corruption through their documentary.
Statement
I wrote Under the Table because I have long wondered why corruption seems so normalized in our country. Beyond exposing corruption, the film explores hidden emotions, silenced beliefs, and the courage to speak up. Through this story, I want to show that being honest with oneself, with others, and with society can be a powerful act of change. By raising awareness about corruption and accountability, the film encourages audiences to question the systems around them and choose truth and courage over silence.
