The Women of Obscure
The Women of Obscure is a poetic short film set in nocturnal Berlin. Inspired by the poetry of Paul Celan, urban solitude, and the fragile presence of the female body in the city, the film unfolds as a visual diary between memory, darkness, and movement. A woman drifts through streets, trams, reflections and inner landscapes, while the camera becomes not only an observer but a companion. Rather than following a conventional plot, the film creates an atmosphere of displacement, intimacy and survival — a cinematic meditation on loneliness, identity and the invisible lives carried through the night.
Statement
The Women of Obscure relates to social impact through its quiet attention to female presence, migration, solitude and emotional invisibility in the urban space. The film does not deliver a direct political message, but invites viewers to notice inner states that are often unseen: loneliness, displacement, vulnerability, and the need to reclaim one’s body and voice in a foreign city. Through a poetic and intimate cinematic language, it raises awareness of how women, especially in exile or transition, carry private histories through public spaces.
