TERRADREAD
A radical climate activist sacrifices motherhood to fight climate change. As her hope erodes and change remains out of reach, she must face the harrowing question: what’s left to save when the future no longer feels possible?
Statement
TERRADREAD addresses the psychological and social consequences of the climate crisis, specifically the collective exhaustion and anxiety that has gone underground, particularly among young people. While public discourse has shifted away from the urgency of the crisis, the fear has not disappeared. It has become privatised, leaving many to carry it alone.
The film's social impact approach is rooted in making this fear visible. By choosing the genre of tragedy, the film points at a systemic error. I believe the crisis is structural, not personal, and I wanted the form of the film to say so. TERRADREAD doesn't offer solutions. It offers a shared space for dialogue and reflection, with the conviction that naming what we collectively carry is the first step toward building resilience together.

TERRADREAD is the Bachelor graduation film of Writer/Director Beatrice Aliné and Director of Photography Tim Ole Kaszik, and the Master graduation project of Creative Audio Director Ramon Klünder, starring Cynthia Cosima Erhardt as Leni, Sarah Quarshie as Rahel, Adi Hrustemovic as Artur and Iman Tekle as Imani.
