“Presa” is a psychological suspense drama following a ballerina who leaves the countryside chasing her dream in the city. After suffering a sexual assault within her own dance company, her reality begins to fracture. Without dialogue, the film uses body language and the states of water to portray dissociation: smoke marks departure, water embodies desire and violence, and ice reflects emotional paralysis. “Presa” is a sensory immersion into trauma, silence, and survival.”
Statement
“Presa” is a social impact film because it sheds light on the psychological consequences of sexual violence and emotional abuse within highly demanding artistic environments. Through a sensory and dialogue-free narrative, the film explores dissociation, trauma, and the silent paralysis many survivors experience after abuse — especially when the aggressor is someone trusted and admired.
By using dance, body language, and the metaphor of water states to portray the protagonist’s emotional fragmentation, “Presa” invites audiences to empathize with experiences that are often invisible or difficult to verbalize. The film aims to raise awareness about sexual violence, mental health, and the lasting effects of trauma, while also opening space for conversations about toxic power structures inside artistic institutions.
