What does it mean to be a man today? What happens if gender stereotypes change? How do you handle disorientation? A young man asks questions, experiments, reflects, thinks and wishes for a more equal world.
Statement
The understanding of masculinity has changed significantly in recent decades. Today, multifaceted, emotional men are more socially accepted. However, some men are now faced with contradictory or unclear expectations. This can lead to a sense of disorientation. Some search their answers on social media which in turn can create an opening for radical, extremist ideologies. This short film raises awareness of this issue, shows understanding and offers hope. It encourages self-reflection and creates space for discussion.
“Mannwerdung” is a plea for every person to be accepted just as they are.
