Lemon Pickers was born from an encounter with a labor reality that often remains invisible: that of those who sustain a productive economy with their bodies, while being exposed to precariousness, inequality, and violence when they demand fairer conditions. From a perspective rooted in Tucumán, Argentina, the film approaches the lemon harvest not only as a space of exploitation, but also as a territory where hope, organization, and collective disobedience emerge. Its social impact lies in shifting the gaze toward the women workers, their voices, and their refuges —the friendship between them—, inviting us to ask who pays the human cost of what we consume, and what forms of solidarity can arise in the face of injustice.
