This is a new, previously unseen version of a short film I made in the past.
I appoint to the murderers Sims and Skenne, who are wrongly known as the: “Fathers of Gynaecology”. I said this because they subject womens to slavery, for execute their first gynecologist operations.
This movie denounces violence, racism, classism in the history of gynecological research. On the other hand, it tries to demystify many sexist stereotypes.
I do this film since my perspective as a lesbian, as a lesbian who has been affected by the heterocentric stereotypes perpetuated across all channels of communication regarding what sexuality should be like.
In this regard, I contrast video and text in a tribute to Lucy, Betsy and Anarcha: the first womens whom Sims and Skene enslave to create what we now know as “gynecology”.
Statement
Since 2012, I have been making short films to share the results of my academic and non-academic research. With some of these films, I try to help people understand the difference between independent sex work and human trafficking.
In these films, I start from the premise that sex work is an activity mutually agreeing human adults perform with other mutually consenting human adults.
My films are anti-punitive and advocate restorative integral justice. I aim to effect structural change by addressing the root causes and raising awareness in society, moving beyond palliative solutions.
In my short film "Cum is not peeing", and other social impact films for adults: I use explicit content and rhetorical devices to highlight initiatives that promote justice and encourage the reform of international laws, regulations and protocols that do not respect human rights.
I have not only shown my films at film festivals and contemporary art exhibitions. I also step outside of conventional exhibition circuits by screening them in a wide variety of spaces to create political and social impact, such as: prisons, universities, bars, concerts, parties, and other spaces.
I have also shown my films at parliamentary centres to several political figures to highlight the urgent importance of addressing these issues.
And this short film will follow the same screening process.
