On a dark and stormy night, Marco, an elderly man suffering from dementia, hears the gentle voice of his son, Luigi, asking him to tell a bedtime story. Determined to fulfill this wish, he embarks on a journey through hazy visions and unexpected encounters to reach Luigi's home in the woods.
Statement
This short film addresses senile dementia through the language of a fairytale. The goal is to give colour and warmth to people who are too often destined to a cruel fate, offering a different perspective on their world, one of gentleness rather than tragedy. Raising awareness on this topic is essential: the more people understand what dementia truly means for those who live it, the more care and attention this condition can receive. Film is a powerful tool to reach hearts and minds, and this story tries to do exactly that.
Cast and Crew
The film was made by a very small crew of 5 students from IED Milano as their graduation thesis. Despite this, several professionals joined the project, embracing the film's vision and contributing their talent to the cause. Among them, Henoel Grech, an internationally acclaimed composer, and Bruno Noris, one of Italy's most recognised actors, who plays the lead role. All other cast members come from a strong theatre background: Fabio Zulli, Antonio Somma, Ilaria Felter and Alberto De Gasperi. The student crew consisted of Stefano Meomartino as director and screenwriter, Edoardo Mangano as producer, Kristian Famà as camera operator and colorist, Gianni Lorenzo as DOP, and Luigi La Mattina as editor. The wider crew included Gianmaria Seveso and Luca Bocchia for on-set sound, Lorenzo Sattin for audio mixing, Donata Ferrarese as stylist, Emanuele Occhipinti for visual effects, Emanuele Pellicanò for graphic effects, Giovanni Cannarozzo for music mix and mastering, and Sebastiano Mura for sound design.
