To Each Other (Birbirimize) is a short film that explores the invisible violations of consent in young women’s lives and how these experiences quietly seep into everyday reality. Set against the backdrop of a patriarchal society like Turkey, it questions how blurred boundaries are often normalized without being recognized. Rather than focusing on victimhood, the film follows young women as they navigate the process of rediscovering themselves and their own boundaries. It suggests that even in the most fragile moments, solidarity becomes a language of survival, and that finding oneself is often possible through holding on to each other. Applying to the Social Impact section is meaningful to me because I aim not only to tell a story, but to open a discussion around the invisible emotional labor carried by women and their right to agency. Drawing from both personal and surrounding experiences, I hope to create a space where viewers can empathize with these uncertainties and recognize that consent is shaped not only on an individual level but also by the social structures surrounding it.
