Academic Refugees follows two Iranian students who leave their country for London, hoping that education can offer a path to freedom, safety, and a future beyond oppression. Through their experiences, the film explores the emotional cost of migration, the loneliness of rebuilding a life abroad, and the difficult choices faced by young Iranians under political repression, economic instability, and restricted freedoms. Their journey is not only about studying in another country, but also about searching for dignity, belonging, and a place where their ambitions can survive.

Academic Refugees is a social impact project because it gives visibility to the hidden pressures that force many young Iranians to leave their country in search of education, freedom, and safety.
