My mother always told me that I could be whatever I wanted. Through home videos recorded in my childhood, I talk about my education and my relationship with art. María, Catuxa and Aroa, three emerging Galician artists, complete this reflection while showing their work. This documentary opens a dialogue between the domestic archive and interviews, addressing topics such as freedom, women, rural culture and the importance of roots.
Statement
The documentary highlights the work of women who develop their careers in Galicia, within a local and rural context where their projects are often relegated to the background in favor of major professional circuits concentrated in the cities. Through their testimonies, it opens a discussion on the limited recognition of women artists, questioning the mechanisms that have historically shaped the legitimation and diffusion of their artistic creations.
In this way, the short film invites us to break with pre-established ideas that associate professional growth with cities, supporting the possibility of creating art from small places and encouraging the transformation of our environment into a legitimate space for creation.
