메아리 / A Message between Times
Minseo, an elementary school boy, spends his day speaking into his earphones as if he is on a phone call. From his walk home after school to spending time with friends, returning home alone to do homework, and watching TV, his ordinary yet joyful day unfolds through his voice. Late at night, his mother returns home, puts the sleeping child to bed, and listens to the day’s recorded messages on his phone. Though they exist in different moments in time, the two remain connected through Minseo’s voice.
Statement
This film serves as a social impact project by redefining the representation of single-parent households in media. Instead of focusing on isolation as a permanent scar, "A Message Between Times" highlights the resilient and independent bond between a mother and her child who share love across different timelines. It raises vital awareness about the need to understand and respect non-traditional families without pity. Filmed with an empathetic lens, the film conveys a powerful message: family is not defined by its shape, but by the emotional messages left for one another between times.
