I chose this image from Turbulencias because it comes from the short film I had the pleasure of presenting when I first took part in Duemila30 three years ago. Until this moment in the film, we had not used such tight framing. We saved it for the final moment, when Manuel, the protagonist, fully realizes that he is trapped and will never escape. His expression and gaze convey that sense of defeat. We return to the bar where everything began, but Manuel is no longer the same person he was at the start. We chose to blur the background because it reflected his emotional state in that moment. It creates a sense of dissociation, separating him from his surroundings at this crucial breaking point.
