CASSINE

14-23 JUNE, 2024

We are thrilled to present Dumeila30 Lab, our Artistic Residency proposal, a new initiative aimed at extending the spirit of creativity fostered during Duemila30 Festival.

Over the years, Duemila30 has united filmmakers and industry professionals from around the world: we have witnessed the birth of lasting connections, inspired collaborations, and unforgettable experiences. Now, we aim to further expand this connection through Duemila30 Lab, a ten-days immersive filmmaking program.

Nurturing creativity

Duemila30 Lab is a ten-day immersive film production programme that will take place in June 2024 in Cassine (Piedmont), and will involve 10 selected international filmmakers in a course structured in three main phases:

  • Training: Filmmakers will take part in workshops and meetings in which they will acquire new technical skills and thematic perspectives. In addition, the programme will include visits to places of main cultural interest in the host territory.

  • Production: Filmmakers will be divided into groups and five short films will be produced based on the skills learnt during the education phase. This phase will be characterised by the participation of the Cassine community and the subject of the shorts will be the hosting territory.

  • Restitution: Screenings will be organised in the local area to give residents an outside view of the places they inhabit. Moreover, during the fifth edition of Duemila30 Festival, a review of the works realised during the Lab will be organised, offering filmmakers the opportunity to share their creations with an international audience.

  • The only requirement to access the selection process is to be a Duemila30’s alumnus/a and to have participated in a past Festival’s edition. You also need to be able to cover for your travel costs and you must join the entire residency programme (10 days).

  • No, the whole programme is entirely free (excluding travel costs to reach the location).

  • The programme starts on the 13th of June and ends on the 24th of June 2024.

  • No. Unfortunately Duemila30 allows only physical participation.

  • Duemila30 covers the accommodation and meal expenses for all participants. Travel costs to reach Cassine are not covered by the organisation, but we can provide our support in looking for external funding (e.g. reference letter).

  • Visa application will be managed by you. Contact us as soon as you can and we will provide an official invitation letter to facilitate the process. Take into account enough time to allow embassies and consulates to process the application (it might take a while), unfortunatelly we can’t do anythong to speed up the process.

  • You should fly either to Turin of Milan. We suggest Milan. Milan has three main airports: Milano Linate (LIN), Milano Malpensa (MXP), Milano Bergamo (BGY). All airports have connections with the main train station from which you can catch a connection to Cassine.

  • We suggest you bring your own filming equipment (cameras and microphones) as well as a laptop to edit your short film with. The time to work on the projects is limited and it is better if you work with equipment and softwares you are already accustomed to.
